According to Chief Brand Officer of the WWE and professional wrestling legend Stephanie McMahon, there has been a revolution in women's sports. And while wrestling, to many, isn't exactly a form of “real” athleticism -- although, they really are doing all that stuff -- the WWE has stepped up their game by introducing a whole new slew of beautiful brawlers into the fold. And they're not just eye candy.
Calling themselves the Four Horsewomen, these ladies -- who are arguably way more talented and athletic than the renowned, sexualized "divas" of WWE -- come largely from the world of NXT, the WWE's minor leagues. Three of them have been promoted to the majors in order to ramp up the main ring's roster. While the new superstars may not be as famous (yet), the battles between these eager upstarts are often far more intense and demanding than the world has ever seen before in women's professional wrestling.
Charlotte, the acrobatic blond above, claims to be the most “genetically superior” diva in the business. That's because she descends from a legendary line of wrestling DNA. As the daughter of Hall of Famer Ric Flair, Charlotte has been dominating the competition with her powerful submission move, The Figure 8 Leglock (twice as good as her daddy's Figure 4). At 5'10”, she towers over the other divas and is as athletic as she is imposing.
2. Sasha Banks
This babe from Boston isn't afraid to fight dirty. Making a name for herself as a shade-throwing ratchet princess, Banks has recently joined up with powerhouses Naomi and Tamina Snuka to form Team B.A.D. (beautiful and dangerous, duh). Small but spunky, Banks weighs in at a mere 114 lbs, but can take out ladies twice her size.
3. Becky Lynch
A rising star on the scene, Lynch has been unfortunately stuck with a sadly out of fashion steampunk theme, but we love her nonetheless. Hailing from Ireland, Lynch is a submission specialist with a penchant for metal and ska. This weekend at Summer Slam, she reigned supreme over all the divas as the winner of a 9 person elimination match (alongside her teammates Charlotte and Paige).
A cutie from California, Bayley's schtick is that she's as powerful as she is adorable. Although she hasn't quite made her way up to the WWE just yet, her recent win against Sasha Banks has her riding high as the NXT Women's Champion. What Bayley lacks in size she makes up for in spirit, making her a new fan favorite.
