Miley Cyrus, the provocative princess of pop culture, might be moving on to some normalcy in her life -- with the return of the engagement ring on her finger and all that comes with it-- but that doesn't mean our girl is going to stop skirting controversy. The latest news from camp Cyrus? Looks like the "Wrecking Ball" singer is going to star in an upcoming Woody Allen directed series for Amazon.
Deadline reports that the new as-yet-untitled show, set in the 1960's, will be shot and directed by the notorious auteur. There will be six half-hour episodes starring Allen alum Elaine May alongside our tongue swinging sweetheart.
This will be Miley's first major acting gig since Hannah Montana...and will certainly be rather different. With many in the industry speaking out against Allen's colorful sexual history, the decision to appear in his work could change Miley's reputation in the biz. But for better or worse? We're not quite sure.
Interestingly, Allen admitted to not actually understanding what Amazon actually is just last year. In an interview with Deadline, the 80-year-old director commented, "I don’t even know what a streaming service is; that’s the interesting thing. When you said streaming service, it was the first time I’ve heard that term connected with the Amazon thing ... I have regretted every second since I said OK. It’s been so hard for me ... I haven’t had a pleasurable moment since I undertook it."
Not much more has revealed about the project, other than that shooting begins in March.
In the meantime, let's hope Woody doesn't try to tame her wardrobe. Let's reminisce about her most outrageous outfits of all time.
