Miley Cyrus Will Never Walk A Red Carpet Again Because People Are Starving
"That's not how I roll."
Hey! Did you know that Hollywood is frivolous? It's true! There are more important things in the world (human rights, global climate change, war) than the entertainment industry! The latest artist taking a stand against vapidity is Miley Cyrus, who recently claimed she'd never ever walk a red carpet again.
"[A year ago] I had to do the [A Very Murray Christmas] premiere, and I will never do a red carpet again," she said in an interview with Elle. "Why, when people are starving, am I on a carpet that's red? Because I'm 'important'? Because I'm 'famous'? That's not how I roll. It's like a skit—it's like Zoolander."
Right. Well, not sure how famine and movie debuts are related but I guess kudos for not wanting to participate in the shallow vanities of pop culture? Or something? And besides, who doesn't love Zoolander? What'd you think you were getting into, Ms. Cyrus?
Anyway, at least Miley (more than a lot of other celebs) puts her money where her mouth is. In 2014 she created the Happy Hippie Foundation, a charity that raises money to help out with the LGBT homelessness crisis. That's also the same year she brought her homeless friend, Jesse Helt, to the VMAs with her, who accepted their "joint" award (before selling it this year).
Miley also made comments about her "close" friend Britney Spears: "She's a little distant in her world. I just want Britney to be happy. Every time she puts out new music, I'm like, 'Is that what she wants to be doing? Or does she just want to chill?' She's looking so good right now, and looking happy."
Miley just wants everyone to be homed and well fed and happy. What a nice thing. What a nice young girl.
