Omar Epps Sued For Assault And Battery By Actress Who Claims He Broke Her Arm

Donzaleigh Abernathy says that Epps went off-script and injured her while the two were filming a scene together.

Omar Epps is being sued by an actress who says he broke her arm.

According to a lawsuit filed by Donzaleigh Abernathy, the alleged incident took place while she and Epps were filming a scene together for the USA show Shooters back in 2016, TMZ reports. Epps' character was supposed to appear to murder Abernathy's character, but she says that the actor "completely deviated from the script" and broke her arm by "[throwing] his left forearm with full force at [her] right arm."

Abernathy, who was 59 years old at the time, says that Epps, then 43, was negligent and reckless with her while filming and she paid the price for it; not only did Epps break her arm, Abernathy says, but she also alleges that he dropped her so hard on the floor that her back was injured, causing production to come to a halt while she was rushed to the hospital.

Abernathy is suing Epps and Paramount Pictures for negligence, assault, and battery, and is seeking damages for her pain and suffering as well as coverage of any current and future medical costs.

Epps has yet to comment publicly on the allegations against him.
