Over 500,000 People Have Pirated Kanye's New Album
He won't put 'Life Of Pablo' up for sale, but the Internet don't care.
Kanye West can't stop the Internet. The rapper refuses to put his new album, The Life of Pablo, up for sale -- but that hasn't stopped over 500,000 fans from illegally downloading it.
According to Torrent Freak, the coveted album is the most-shared on torrent sites like BitTorrent. The site shares: "at time of writing close to 10,000 people were sharing a copy of the most popular torrent simultaneously, something we haven’t seen with a music release before." The album is also being shared by various direct download and hosting sites, so the actual number of illegal downloads is even higher.
This is bad news for Kanye. Following his appearance on Saturday Night Live, the rapper put up the album for sale on his website for $20. He immediately removed it and explained that he would only stream it on TIDAL. " My album will never never never be on Apple. And it will never be for sale… You can only get it on Tidal," he tweeted.
Sources tell Billboard that Kanye removed the album from his site because he wasn't happy with the final version--and wanted to rework it. Fans crashed his site attempting to buy it, and many were stuck with purchases that were never delivered or with multiple credit card charges due to repeated attempts. Thousands who paid for The Life of Pablo still don't have it.
The saga around the album continues....
