Petition Calls For Jesse Williams To Be Fired From 'Grey's Anatomy'
Shonda Rhimes has something to say about it, too.
Sorry haters, Jesse Williams isn't going anywhere. Following his passionate, viral speech at the BET Awards, a petition was created to fire the actor from Grey's Anatomy. But the show's creator Shonda Rhimes says that the handsome actor is here to stay.
According to the petition, Jesse's speech was racist and divisive. "Jesse Williams spewed a racist, hate speech against law enforcement and white people at the BET awards. If this was a white person making the same speech about an African American, they would have been fired and globally chastised, as they should be, but there has been no consequences to Williams' actions," says the petition's creator. Fans of Dr. Jackson Avery were quick to create their own petition to save him.
But mother of Shondaland has the ultimate say and she says that Jesse is good; he doesn't need a petition. "Um, people? Boo don't need a petition," she tweeted to her 1.25 million Twitter followers. "#shondalandrules."
End of discussion.
