Remy Ma Says She Doesn't Regret "ShETHER," But She's Also "Not Proud Of It"

It's a bit confusing...but also makes sense.

Remy Ma seems confused. The rapper released a very intense diss track directed at Nicki Minaj and blew up the internet. “Shether” went viral, and it is absolutely brutal. In it, Remy accuses Minaj of sleeping her way to the top, calls her butt fake, and says other people write her rhymes. When Nicki Minaj didn’t respond, she dropped another track and also shared pics of Nicki Minaj in her underwear on Instagram. But apparently, Remy doesn’t like the attention she’s getting?

Complex reports that in a Facebook Live interview for Buzzfeed’s Another Round podcast, she told hosts Heben Nigatu and Tracy Clayton that she wishes she could have worked with Nicki Minaj rather than tear her up. “I do not condone or recommend the tearing down of another female. That’s not what I do,” Remy said. “Anybody that knows me knows that I embrace females […] I think we work so much better when we work together and when we help each other […] [H]owever, in the event that you piss me off and we become archenemies, run for cover.”

“Shether” is many things, but supportive of females is not one of them. Criticizing Minaj for her rhymes or supporting her brother who has been accused of raping a pre-teen is legit; making fun of her body and slut-shaming her are not. It’s not really fair to blame the internet for their interest in your song when you’re also releasing pics of someone with their butt in the air without their consent.

Complex points out that Remy said a similar thing when she appeared on Wendy Williams. She explained, “It just bothers me that this record that I put out where it’s literally picking apart a female went so viral, and every media outlet wants to talk about it and pick it up; I feel like we could’ve done the same thing working together. I just personally think it would’ve been so much cooler...if we came together and made something crazy […] It could’ve been totally different. I don’t regret ["shETHER"], but I’m not particularly proud of it.”

Yet, she made “Another One” which is another diss track? It seems like Remy Ma wants to have her cake and eat it too. She wants the attention, but not the criticism...or her P.O. getting calls from Minaj’s fans. She just wants to work with Nicki, can’t you all see that!

Try another one.
