Usually, when I see Rob Kardashian, I just think about how he seems to love playing his family’s “do anything for celebrity” game by his own rules. He brought Blac Chyna into the fold, and she was probably the last person Mama Kris wanted to add to the group of monetized relations. But it’s worked out great for them both. They have a TV show and a baby girl on the way.
Being rich and famous, however, doesn’t protect you from sorrow, tragedy or pain. It doesn’t even protect you from feeling like crap about yourself. Rob Kardashian is certainly a bigger man than he was when we all first became aware of him on Keeping Up WIth the Kardashians. In a clip from his show with his fiancée, Rob & Chyna, it’s apparent that his self-image has taken a hit because of his weight gain.
The two had a fight, and in a phone call Blac Chyna asks if that was the reason Rob never showed up to meet her at a party Chyna threw for a friend. He replies, “It's a combination of everything...I just didn't really want you to see me and give you more reason to stop being attracted to me or whatever. So…so I just didn't want to go."
His voice sounds pretty emotional, kind of like the voice many of us speak in when we’re feeling anxious and bad about ourselves. In an interview, Chyna says, “Even though I'm pissed at Rob for ghosting on me, when Rob says like really bad stuff about himself…it kinda like throws me off a lot because I don't see it.
"And I get it everybody's like down on themselves and have their opinions, but some of the stuff that he thinks and says is really sad."
Blac Chyna obviously loves him and wants him around, whatever his size. But it’s pretty hard to convince someone when they’re in a spiral about their looks—even if you’re hot as hell and carrying their baby. Hopefully, Rob remembers he’s got that going on no matter what.
