Rosie O'Donnell Issued An Apology For Asking If Barron Trump Has Autism

Her question was sincere, but Melania's response was serious.

Barron Trump hasn’t spent much time in the public eye, but that’s most likely because he is 10 years old. Donald Trump’s other children have been pretty front and center throughout his campaign, especially his beloved Ivanka. Naturally, people are curious about the youngest of his brood. During Barron’s public appearances on TV, flanking his father during a live broadcast late at night, he appears to be yawning and grimacing. This is pretty normal behavior for a tired kid, but since he is so infrequently seen, it attracted a lot of attention.

An unnamed man posted a video to YouTube that suggests Barron has autism, based on these brief appearances. The man who created the vid has autism himself, and was diagnosed when he was five years old. Rosie O’Donnell, who is no fan of Donald Trump (nor he of her), shared the video on Twitter with the statement, “Barron Trump Autistic? if so - what an amazing opportunity to bring attention to the AUTISM epidemic.” She has since deleted the tweet and apologized on her website for directing speculative attention to a kid.

O’Donnell says that her own daughter was diagnosed as having autism as well. She writes (with very weird grammar that is maybe a poem?), “when i saw the anti bullying video that mentioned barron it spoke to the symptoms many ASD kids have it was educational and informational these symptoms so many do not understand – i thought – how amazing IF IF it is true IF it is true – i tweeted from my heart it would help so much with the autism epidemic.”

Okay!

Meanwhile, Melania Trump threatened a lawsuit on the man who posted the video, possibly to keep in tow with her "promise" to the White House. TMZ reports that he has taken it down and that he told them, “I never ever meant this as a bullying video.” He intends to issue an apology to the Trump family.

Of course, Barron Trump’s health is not the business of anyone outside the Trump family, at least until he turns 18. There’s plenty of things to speculate about when it comes to Donald Trump’s mental health in the meantime.
