RuPaul Feels "Shunned" By White, Black, And Gay People
RuPaul responds to allegations about his silence around Black Lives Matter.
RuPaul, the star of RuPaul's Drag Race and Queen of all things drag, is defended himself against allegations that he's not supporting the Black Lives Matter movement and opened up about feeling "shunned" by white, black and gay people.
It all started when a fan commented that Ru wasn't tweeting about Black Lives Matter: "I've seen every type of @RuPaul tweet except anything about BLM. Don't let that blonde wig get too tight my love."
RuPaul responded, "Bitch, I’m a 55yr old gay black man. I’ve fought c*nts at every turn. #DontTryMe" and then said that he was, "Shunned by whites for being black, by blacks for being gay, and by gays for being fem. The real tee? Ego needs to feel superior over others."
Although some may view the tweets as divisive, RuPaul recently spoke about the importance of unity within the gay community. According to Gay Times, the star delivered a moving speech at Pride Toronto and said, “You know, a lot of people come from families that, for whatever reason, don’t accept them, or are closed down to the idea of love...And here, young people have found their family. As gay people, we get to choose our families, and you – you are my family.”
