Say it ain't so! Benny "The Jet" Rodriguez, also known as the kid in "The Sandlot" every preteen girl had a crush on, is now facing serious prison time, and it's all because of a brawl that took place on Halloween night.
According to TMZ, on Halloween Michael Vitar and two friends chased down a man who was walking around the neighborhood and handing out candy to children. The L.A. County D.A.'s Office says the trio jumped the man, throwing him to the ground and choking him.
Vitar, an L.A. firefighter, was arrested last week and later released on $30,000 bail. He, along with another friend involved in the assault who is also a firefighter, has been placed on administrative leave with pay during the court proceedings. The three men have all been charged with felony assault, and, if convicted, Vitar could face up to four years behind bars.
So many unanswered questions here. What's the story behind this? Did they know the victim? Does Michael Vitar and his friends just hate people who are nice to kids on Halloween? We'll be waiting for more details to emerge.
