Serena Williams Used A Body Double For Her Baby In New Gatorade Ad

Her newborn daughter Alexis Olympia was initially scheduled to appear in the ad. Here's why they went a different route.

Serena Williams' daughter hasn't made her big TV debut just yet.

While Serena does star in Gatorade's new "Sisters in Sweat" ad, the baby she cuddles during the heartwarming commercial isn't actually her two-month-old daughter Alexis Olympia, as many fans have assumed.

According to AdAge, while Gatorade planned on having Serena's daughter star in the ad with her, they ultimately had to use a stand-in.

"While Serena intended to have Olympia make her screen debut as part of this film, her daughter was under the weather and unable to be on set, but the sentiment remains the same," a Gatorade spokeswoman said in a statement.

The nearly two-minute ad features a heartfelt voiceover from Serena.

"Baby girl, I won't mind if you play tennis badly. I won't mind if you choose to never pick up a racket. But I beg you, in this game of life, please keep playing no matter what," she says.

Earlier this month, Serena and Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian tied the knot during a fairytale wedding in New Orleans that was attended by a slew of famous friends, including Kim Kardashian and Beyonce.
