The most important meal of the day just got a whole lot more delicious. According to food experts, the next trend in breakfast is to eat chocolate cake.
Liz Moskow, a culinary director at Sterling-Rice Group and a food trend expert, tells Food Business News that a slice of cake is the next trend in breakfast. Following studies about the health benefits of dark chocolate, including improving memory and focus, chocolate cake could be the best way to jump start the day. “There was a study that recently came out from Syracuse University re-touting the benefits of dark chocolate, specifically on cognitive function — abstract reasoning, memory, focus,” Ms. Moskow said. “The thought was eating chocolate prepares you more for your workday, so what better day part to incorporate dark chocolate into your meal than breakfast?”
Chocolate cake sounds way better than a bowl of oatmeal but be warned: Dark chocolate does have fat so eat it in moderation.
