This Frozen Pants Prank Is The Only Good Thing About Winter Right Now
So random and weird, yet so funny.
When you're stuck indoors all winter, it can be hard to find ways to entertain yourself. After all, there's only so much Netflix one person can take. One Minnesota resident by the name of Tom Grotting has taken the fight to alleviate seasonal boredom to new heights, and his methods are more than a little unorthodox.
To put it bluntly, he freezes pants and then uses them to prank people. It's a pretty simple process - he soaks the pants in water before hanging them outside to freeze, shaping them in the process. After they're frozen, the pants can be placed anywhere, so that it looks like invisible, pants-wearing ghosts are hanging out in the snow. As a hobby, it is both pointless and really, really funny.
"I mostly do it for my neighbor, Diane," Grotting told ABC News. "The winter gets a little long and she doesn't like winter very much so it's mostly entertainment for Diane."
Grotting's frozen pants prank has gone viral this year after he posted pics to the Facebook page, "I Love NE Minneapolis."
"I got somewhere in the neighborhood of 600 or 700 likes and everyone is talking about it," Grotting said. "People have tried it themselves and it's caught on."
"All over Northeast Minneapolis, people are freezing their pants," he added. "There is no end in sight."
But how did this whole thing even start?
"It was just on us for weeks on end so I took advantage of the Polar Vortex and froze some pants," Grotting said.
Makes sense to me.
