Sorry, Hillary Clinton. T.I. isn’t going to vote for you because…you’re a girl! That’s right. T.I., the rapper who has won our hearts by being a Southern gentleman—meets—family man, can’t vote for Hillary in 2016 because he thinks she’ll be too “emotional” to lead. “Not to be sexist but, I can’t vote for the leader of the free world to be a woman,” he said in a recent interview with DJ Whoo Kid. (The video has since been taken off YouTube.)
Uh, that’s incredibly sexist.
And, it gets better. The “No Mediocre” rapper continues: “Just because, every other position that exists, I think a woman could do well. But the President? It’s kinda like, I just know that women make rash decisions emotionally — they make very permanent, cemented decisions — and then later, it’s kind of like it didn’t happen, or they didn’t mean for it to happen. And I sure would hate to just set off a nuke. [Other leaders] will not be able to negotiate the right kinds of foreign policy; the world ain’t ready yet. I think you might be able to the Loch Ness Monster elected before you could [get a woman].”
T.I.’s credibility is suspect throughout the interview. At one point, he calls his protégé, Travi$ Scott, “Iggy [Azalea] in a black man’s body.”
Update: After getting dragged on social media, T.I. has since apologized. “My comments about women running for president were unequivocally insensitive and wrong. I sincerely apologize to everyone I offended.”
