On Friday night, 22 year-old singer and Voice alum Christina Grimmie was fatally shot during a meet-and-greet in Orlando, Florida.
News of her tragic passing shocked fans everywhere, including Selena Gomez. Gomez's stepfather, Brian Teefey, began managing Grimmie when she was 14, and Grimmie and Gomez were good friends for many years.
The day after the tragedy, Gomez took to her Twitter to express her love for Christina.
Later that day, during a concert stop on Saturday night, Selena took time out to honor her late friend with a moving cover of Hillsong's "Transfiguration."
"When she was 14, we met her, and my parents and I signed her," a tearful Gomez said during her performance in Miami. "One thing about Christina and her family is that she holds her faith so closely to her. I think it's not about a religion and it's not about good deeds," she said, somberly. "It's just that she had faith, and I don't really understand how this really happened, but I would like to dedicate this next song to her."
