You Can Now Buy Deep-Fried Twinkies At The Grocery Store
Forget your beach body goals. Hostess announces frozen deep-fried Twinkies.
Back in the day, deep-fried Twinkies were only available at state fairs and carnivals. Hostess is (finally) taking the sugary calorie bomb and bringing it to local grocery stores.
According to the Associated Press, Hostess is launching packaged "Deep Fried Twinkies" starting today. The cream-filled snack cakes are available in vanilla or chocolate and marks the first time that Hostess is expanding into frozen foods. The Twinkies come pre-battered and partially fried in a box of seven. They can be prepared by heating up in the oven, toaster oven or frying pan. A box costs $4.76 and is available initially at Wal-Mart.
It has a "retro cool factor," says Ellen Copaken, Hostess' Vice President of Marketing. "It plays into the comfort food trend. And it's fun."
