The Top 15 Biggest Nicki Minaj Beefs
Having beef, for Nicki, is like Tuesday for everyone else.
Nicki Minaj has a bone to pick—with nearly everyone, it seems. Having beef, for Nicki, is like Tuesday for everyone else. It's unavoidable, and likely kind of mundane in its predictability. And yet Nicki Minaj brings a special kind of scowl when she puts someone on her list that will make your toes curl and the hair on the back of your neck stand up. Whether you're as obscure as Azealia Banks or as A-list as Drake, Nicki is not someone to be messed with, that's for sure. Here are her most high profile beefs in detail, and a bunch more bonus beefs in case you thought we were joking about her take-no-prisoners attitude.
The latest in a legacy of Nicki Minaj super beef, Teen Mom’s Farrah Abraham incurred Nicki’s wrath recently. Binge-watching back episodes of Teen Mom (celebrities, they’re just like us!), Nicki got a bee in her bonnet about the way Abraham was treating her own mom on screen, and called the reality star a #BigCunt. Abraham retaliated by telling Nicki her videos looked like “porn" so it doesn't look like the two will be declaring one other BFFs any time soon.
What’s good, Miley? Nicki kicked off at Miley Cyrus live on stage at the MTV VMAs in 2015 after taking issue with Miley’s comments about her in the media. Miley has discredited Nicki’s opinions about racism in the media and music industry in a New York Times interview, dismissing them as Nicki’s anger at not having won an award. While there were some speculation that the incident at the VMAs was orchestrated, there seemed to be literal smoke blowing out of Nicki’s nostrils. The anger, if not the script, was real.
Iggy Azalea makes herself an easy target. I mean, this is a white woman rapping about being a “runaway slave-master," for crying out loud. In what world is a lyric like that a good decision? Meanwhile, Nicki Minaj took her opportunity to fire shots off at the Australian rapper on stage at the BET Awards, saying, "What I want the world to know about Nicki Minaj is when you hear Nicki Minaj spit, Nicki Minaj wrote it," in a pointed dig at Azalea for not writing her own lyrics. Nicki half-heartedly tried to backtrack on Twitter, saying, “I've congratulated Iggy on the success of 'Fancy,' publicly. She should be very proud of that. All the women nominated should b proud,” but no one was buying it.
When Taylor Swift’s “Bad Blood” was nominated for an AMA in 2015 and Nicki's “Anaconda” wasn’t, Nicki took to Twitter to express her frustration. She wrote, “If your video celebrates women with very slim bodies, you will be nominated for vid of the year,” and called herself, Nicki, an “other”. She was referring to the racial politics of the music industry, and Swift fired back, writing "I've done nothing but love & support you. It's unlike you to pit women against each other. Maybe one of the men took your slot." The two have since made amends, with Swift, all class as always, apologizing for her hasty retaliation.
Arguably each the Rap Queen of their generation, you’d think Lil Kim and Nicki Minaj would be besties, but unfortunately, that’s not the case. When Nicki rose to fame, Kim believed she'd stolen her image, while Nicki cited Kim as one of her early influences (which makes perfect sense, considering Lil Kim is seminal in the rap game, where there are few female role models compared to male ones). Lil Kim went on the offensive, releasing a Black Friday album cover that portrayed her decapitating Nicki from her Pink Friday cover. Since then Nicki released the diss track "Stupid Hoe," and there's been no love lost between the two.
At first, Nicki thought her American Idol co-judge was a friend, but boy, was she wrong. She quickly found out that the prolific diva Mariah had taken a dislike to her, and the two were never able to get along, showing their distaste for one another quite readily on camera.

In 2013, for seemingly no reason, Gucci Mane fired shots at Nicki on Twitter, suggesting they’d been intimate. Not one to shy away from controversy. Nicki fired back, declaring that she’d never slept with him, and that he looked like an "upset stomach."
Yet more Twitter drama ensued when indie scene rapper Azealia Banks slammed Nicki for not caring about race until she was a victim of racism following her AMA nominations scandal last year (Nicki’s "Anaconda" was snubbed and she called it out as industry racism). Banks and Nicki have a long history of beefing on Twitter, and both seem to be holding grudges against each other wayyyyyyy longer than anyone else cares about.
Nicki might be giving Drake boners now and the two might be besties, but their friendship hasn’t been without its ups (lol, get it?) and downs. Drake has revealed that there was a time in the past where Nicki wasn’t speaking to him, and cryptically admits he did something wrong, but it's unclear exactly what that is.
Nicki isn’t afraid to go for the jugular when you piss her off... even if it is a high profile network like ESPN! Nicki
After prolific Hot 97 hip hop DJ Peter Rosenberg implied that he thought Nicki Minaj’s “Starships” wasn't “real hip hop," Nicki threw all the toys out of the stroller. The comments caused Nicki to cancel her performance at the Hot 97 Summer Jam at the last minute. Hell hath no fury like a Minaj scorned.
If you were wondering if Nicki was team Ange or team Jen, look no further than the lyrics of “Stupid Hoe," where she raps, "I'm Angelina, you Jennifer come on bitch you see where Brad at."
Winning the award for perhaps the most obscure, unexpected Twitter beef of all time, is Cher and Nicki Minaj. It started when Cher was told by a fan that Nicki had dissed her (which she hadn't) so the disco queen took to Twitter to call Nicki out. Nicki fired back, calling Cher "irrelevant," and the two never seemed to quite patch it up, even after Cher apologized.
