Oxygen.com is a high-bandwidth site, and requires at least a DSL connection (120k) to fully enjoy all of our features.
Watching a clip is free, but you may need to download a player first. If your computer is a PC, you'll need Windows Media Player (v.9 or higher), or QuickTime (v.6 or higher) if you're on a Mac. These can be downloaded at the sites linked below.
Some users find that nothing happens when they click on the links to 'video' on our site. The video player does not launch, and therefore, the clip you've selected is unable to play. This is typically caused by Pop-Up Blocker software installed on your computer. Pop-Up Blockers are sometimes unable to recognize that The Screening Room is user requested, so they prevent it from opening. Pop-Up Blockers are included in software from AOL, MSN, Internet Explorer, Netscape, Norton Utilities, Alexa and many more. If you experience this problem playing video clips, try disabling your Pop-Up Blocker, or select the option to allow pop-ups from Oxygen.com.
To watch a video clip you will need to download and install one or more of the latest versions of the following Media Players:
a. PC: Windows Media Player (version 9 or higher)
b. Mac: Apple QuickTime Player (version 6 or higher)
Once you've downloaded and installed a Media Player you're ready to start watching. Just click on any link within the video player.
If you are having trouble getting video to play, first ensure that you have Windows Media Player, version 9 or higher (PC), or QuickTime version 6 or higher (Mac) installed on your computer.
If you already have Windows Media Player installed, please be sure to associate .ASF files with it; Go to Tools --> Options --> File Types window and make sure the box next to ASF is checked.
If the above does not work, go to Tools --> Options and check the box that says "Connect to the Internet (overrides other commands)”.
This is a known Mac OSX bug. The fix is as follows:
1. open your hard drive in Finder
2. browse to Library
3. go to Internet Plugins folder
4. delete "quicktimeplugin.webplugin" folder (i.e. drag it to Trash)
5. re-launch Safari
Currently, The Screening Room does not support the AOL browser. If you are visiting our site through AOL, please use Internet Explorer to view our site.
Oxygen.com is a high-bandwidth site, and requires at least a DSL connection (120k) to fully enjoy all of our features. Trying to view video clips from a dialup connection (or anything less than 120k) will cause the clips to appear choppy.
At the moment, we don't offer downloads of our video files.
As with all programs and plug-ins, Windows Media Player and/or Web browsers can freeze or crash your computer. This should not happen on a regular basis. When using a demanding application like a streaming video player, try not to have other programs running that might be using system resources. If it seems that the player you are using is causing continual problems, please contact the appropriate support department at Windows Media Player Problems or QuickTime Player.
