Kim Kardashian West, along with Alice Marie Johnson and three other women recently released from prison, met with President Donald Trump to "discuss more change that our justice system desperately needs."
David Sheppard took his first steps out of custody in nearly 30 years into the arms of family and friends. As they were reunited, one of the Sheppard’s sons wore a necklace saying "Free Wavy,” referring to a nickname for the father of six.
David Sheppard was being held on a detainer because of a 1992 retail theft charge after he was granted clemency for his role in a shooting death. The victim’s daughters say they were not notified about his commutation.
The support of Kim Kardashian West may have helped pave a way to David Sheppard’s release, but an outstanding retail theft charge may be a new roadblock to his freedom. His case will be featured in “Kim Kardashian West: The Justice Project.”
A D.C. man who received the support of Kim Kardashian West took his first steps of freedom Monday afternoon after more than two decades behind bars.
Momolu Stewart met a group of more than a dozen family and friends outside of the D.C. Central Detention Facility. Stewart was serving a life sentence for a murder he committed while he was a juvenile. Now more than double his age from the time he committed the crime, Stewart says the first thing he wants to do is spend time with his mother and other family members.
This summer, Stewart met Kim Kardashian West and she wrote a letter in support of his release. His case is set to be featured in her upcoming Oxygen documentary “Kim Kardashian West: The Justice Project.”
