1. Judges: Best Ink Season 3 is a Wild Card with Younger, Fresher Ideas
"Season 3 is a lot more of an even playing field," says Sabina Kelley. "Rather than seeing a couple of people that shot right out of the gate," adds Hannah Aitchison. "We were seeing a lot of people that were duking it out. There was a lot of wild card activity." Head Judge Joe Capobianco agrees: "With this group, people that we thought weren't going to be able to compete or weren't going to be able to keep up managed to do really well.
Youth may be one reason for the even playing field. "For the most part what we're seeing is younger tattooers," says Joe. "I don't want to say less experienced because they really pulled off some stuff that I was impressed by. We're seeing younger, fresher ideas."
2. The Most Insane Tattoo Hannah Has Ever Done
"This guy got a bucket of sh*t with flies circling around it and a rose growing out of it and the word "mom" underneath," says Hannah. "I was like, 'Dude, seriously, is this something you genuinely want your mother to see? You must have a pretty negative relationship with her.' And he said, 'No, no, no, you don't understand. She always used to say I was the only one she knew who could step in a bucket of sh*t and come out smelling like a rose."
Hannah also says a colleague tattooed "Willie Nelson giving Willie Nelson a back rub" on someone. Priceless.
3. Joe Describes His Judging Style
When asked about his extended role as head judge, Joe says, "I did this season what I've done every season: I shoot from the hip. I say the things that come to mind and the things that I feel are relevant. Not everyone is cool with that, but, in all honest, I really don't give a sh*t." Joe, this is why we love you!
