A mother in England who suffocated her 2-year-old daughter to death sent the child’s father "one last picture" before killing her.
Twenty-year-old Cody-Anne Jackson has been sentenced to prison for a minimum of 16 years for killing Macey Hogan, according to the BBC. She sent a text message to Macey Hogan’s father before the suffocation death, saying, "Sorry, just thought you deserved one last picture and memory of her."
The judge told Jackson that she committed a "wicked and appalling act,” one made out of self-absorption.
"This was a killing that was cold and callous and set to exact revenge on Paul Hogan as he had broken off the relationship with Cody-Anne Jackson,” Detective Inspector Dan Ison of the Staffordshire Police told the BBC.
The child’s body was found last October after police broke into Jackson’s home. Either a dressing gown cord or a pillow were likely used to smother the little girl, according to the Daily Mail.
