Authorities in Grand Rapids, Michigan believe that a three-week-old baby was attacked and killed by a pit bull. According to detectives, a pit bull was found near Susannah Murray with blood around its mouth.“This is a very, very tragic situation,” said Sgt. Terry Dixon.
According to WoodTV, Susannah was in her baby bouncer while adults were outside on the porch. When an adult came in to check on her five minutes later, they saw she was bitten and the pit bull was nearby.
Susannah was taken to the hospital and underwent emergency surgery. She died Friday morning.
According to Dixon, the home had three pit bulls. The dogs are currently being quarantined at a nearby animal shelter.
Child Protection Services is investigating, as at least one child lives in the home where the dogs stay. So far, no charges have been made in the case.
Murray was born on May 4, per information shared by Beuschel Funeral Home. She was known as "Baby Suzie."
