A 31-year-old New York woman died after receiving cosmetic buttock injections—and her family is pushing for the doctors who performed the procedure to face charges.
"At the end of the day, my sister needs some type of justice – period," said Tymel Bynum, the brother of Latesha Bynum, who died on July 15 just hours after the injections.
"After the procedure, something was wrong with my sister. I think her feet and stuff was blue," Tymel said, according to CBS News. "She went to the hospital and couldn't breathe and whatever was in her went to her head. She was brain dead and she had zero chance to basically come back from it,” he continued.
Reportedly, Bynum went to a building for the procedure that is only zoned for residential use—though her brother claims that she had gone to these medical professionals for other procedures, and they were doctors.
"They had their licenses," said Tymel. "They're supposed to know what they (are) doing.”
Police sources told CBS they are investigating whether the procedure is responsible for Bynum’s death, but the New York City Medical Examiner’s office hasn’t released the official cause.
Bynum, the mother of two young children, would have turned 32 on Sunday.
