A 7-year-old child saved her teen sister as she was being raped by a family member’s friend. She ran to a neighbor’s home to get help for her 14-year-old sister, who was given alcohol before she was assaulted.
On Wednesday night, the siblings were being watched by their 51-year-old aunt Melinda McNatt, who provided alcohol for the teen, according to Al. McNatt invited company over, including Tony Nathan Grissom, 30, to the trailer park in Russellville, Alabama and allegedly joined her in drinking and taking meth.
Grissom has been jailed for rape and McNatt has been arrested for providing alcohol to a minor and drug possession according to ABC31.
"(The teen) got drunk, and Grissom took advantage of the situation," Sheriff Shannon Oliver told ABC31. "I just can't understand why a 30-year-old man has that kind of thought. It's just senseless and awful."
The 14-year-old victim was nearly passed out when she was assaulted, Oliver said. Her younger sister witnessed the attack and tried to tell the other adults in the house but they were all passed out.
"Thank goodness she was there and had the courage to go get help," Oliver continued. "It was bad enough, but it could have been a lot worse."
McNatt's roommate Amanda Byrd was also charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
The teen girl was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
