Actor Miles Teller was arrested on Sunday for public drunkeness. The 30-year-old was arrested Sunday morning in San Diego after authorities reportedly saw him acting intoxicated in the street, according to the Associated Press.
According to a spokesperson for the San Diego Police Department, the Whiplash star started “showing signs of being under the influence of alcohol,” including slurring his speech and he had trouble keeping his balance, per Variety. He was initially allowed to sober up at a detox center but was allegedly uncooperative with the staff. Teller was then taken into custody and transferred to jail.
The Fantastic Four actor denied the charges and took to social media to share his innocence. “Went down to SD to see my buddy before he deployed,” he wrote on Twitter. “I wasn’t arrested I was detained bc there was no evidence to charge me with a crime.” He added, “Don’t believe everything you read, especially from a third party entertainment news source trying to get clicks. Appreciate the concern."
