Supermodel and sex symbol Ashley Graham, who got her start in modeling when she was in her teens, is getting candid about the sexual abuse she faced in the industry and reveals that a photographer exposed himself to her when she was only 17.
She tells the story to Glamour: "There was a photo assistant who was into me. He was like, 'Hey, come here,' and he led me into a closet. And I was like, 'What?' I thought he was going to show me something. And he pulled me in, and he pulled his penis out." She continues, "And he was like, 'Grab it.' And I was like, 'No! That’s disgusting.' I freaked out. And thank God I was closer to the door, and I just bolted out."
Graham says that she never told anyone about the incident and that she's seen the same man at other jobs since the incident.
The supermodel has been open about sexual abuse in the past. The interview points out an instance, outlined in her book, when a teenage boy made her grab his erection when she was 10. Graham blamed herself as the victim but has come to realize that she did nothing to provoke the abuse. She tells other survivors: "To all those girls out there: No, you didn’t do anything."
