A 7-year-old North Carolina girl who was shot and killed while sleeping in her bedroom suffered 20 gunshot wounds, an autopsy revealed.
A’yanna Allen was apparently shot through her bedroom window in December while sleeping next to her grandmother, Shirley Robinson, CBS News reported. Robinson suffered a leg injury, while Allen was pronounced dead at the scene, with bullet holes on her head, torso, and limbs.
It’s unclear which of the gunshot wounds on Allen are entrance or exit wounds, or in what order the shots were fired, the medical examiner said. Local paper The Salisbury Post reported that Allen was shot as many as 13 times.
Allen also had fractures in her skull, ribs, pelvis and right femur, the autopsy said.
Her cause of death was officially classified as a homicide from “multiple gunshot wounds.”
There have been no arrests in the killing. There’s a $20,000 reward for anyone who offers information leading to an arrest in the case.
