A New York babysitter admitted that she threw a 2-year-old boy down a flight of stairs, resulting in his death two days later, authorities said.
Ramisi Truitt, 34, first said that 2-year-old Shomer Brown had had a seizure resulting in his fall down 13 steps on Aug. 6, 2015, fracturing his skull, breaking his collarbone, and putting the boy into a coma, The New York Daily News reported.
But a police investigation found that Brown had been pushed.
The case was initially delayed by Truitt’s pregnancy by Brown’s father, who was not at home that night because he was working an overnight shift at a nearby hospital. Brown’s mother died in childbirth.
Truitt pleaded guilty to first degree-manslaughter and could face up to 20 years in prison.
