Bobby Shmurda Charged Additional Count For Attempting To Smuggle Shank Into Jail

The rapper continues to face legal troubles while incarcerated.

Embattled rapper Bobby Shmurda has been dealing with a series of questionable legal battles since 2014 after being arrested along with 15 other people and charged with a handful of crimes including murder, attempted murder, and drug dealing. Now, years into his sentence, Shmurda could be facing a new set of struggles after it was discovered that he had attempted to have a shank smuggled into his jail cell.

The situation arose in 2015: Shmurda's girlfriend attempted to smuggle a “sharpened metal object” into his cell. Now, the notorious artist is being charged with a non-violent felony; accepting a plea deal and admitting guilt, he will now serve 1.3 to four years at the same time as his current sentence for conspiracy and weapons possession.

“Is it true that on that date…that you did, in fact, possess a white latex glove balloon wrapped in tape with a sharp metal object?” Judge Whitten asked, according to Bossip.

“Attempted, yes sir,” Shmurda responded.

As part of the plea deal, Shmurda will not be able to appeal the decision.

He will be available for parole in 2021.
