A San Francisco-area water park has been shut down after a horrific water slide accident. A 10-year-old boy spun off a three-story slide and hit concrete at the The Wave in Dublin.
According to the East Bay Times, the accident occurred on Saturday during the grand opening of the park. The child spun out of control on the Emerald Plunge chute and was flung onto a concrete walkway. Luckily, he was "just shaken up" and suffered only a scratched shoulder.
A photographer from the publication caught the scary incident.
“He got up immediately and as any boy would be, he was stunned,” shared Dublin Assistant City Manager Linda Smith, who happened to be standing next to the slide during the incident. “I was worried if he was mentally OK, but physically he just had some scrapes.”
Authorities were not called to the scene, per park officials, as the boy's parents decided to have their son checked out on their own.
The park closed the slide as well as an adjacent slide. On Monday, NBC Bay Area reported that an investigation has been opened into the park.
