The motive, if there was one, is not yet known.

At around noon on Thursday, a car rammed into a crowd of people in New York City’s Times Square. At least 13 people were injured according to the Fire Department.

The conditions of the people were not yet known, a spokeswoman said in a New York Times report. A Police Department spokesman said the driver has been taken into custody.

The NYT described a maroon Honda Accord sat tilted on a bollard, its right wheels off the ground on the northwest corner of 45th Street and Broadway in the aftermath of the incident. Its front hood was crumpled and its trunk open.

A witness recoreded the arrest of the driver.
