Former TV star Darius McCrary has been accused of child abuse by his wife, Tammy Brawner, a former Harlem Globetrotter. McCrary played Edward "Eddie" Winslow on Family Matters, though he’s been out of the spotlight for some time.
According to TMZ, Brawner alleges that on February 10, McCrary “went crazy” and threw a bunch of stuff - like picture frames - around the house, and towards their 16-month-old daughter. She also alleges he frequently spanked her and tied her arms down during meals to force her to eat. She also claims he once held the baby over a pot of boiling water. A judge granted Brawner a restraining order that keeps McCrary 100 yards from her and their daughter and has ordered him to move out of their shared home.
McCrary’s attorney Glen T. Jonas told TMZ that all the accusations are completely fabricated, and took a shot at her career by saying that she "is no victim ... she is a predator motivated by a desperate desire to extort money out of Mr. McCrary while trying to create an advantage in an impending divorce and custody battle."
Adding, “Having floundered after being fired by the Globetrotters she apparently will say anything for a bit of media attention and a glimpse of the spotlight."
Just the same, McCrary has to obey the order until the couple’s hearing next month.
