A 6-year-old boy saw his family murdered on Christmas Eve by intruders to his Alaska home—and heartbreakingly, he told police that he saw the shootings happen.
“Ninjas came to my home and killed my family,” the boy said, according to an Anchorage Police statement. The boy also told police that the “ninjas” told him to go to his room, reported a local outlet.
The victims were identified as Danielle and Christopher Brooks; it’s unclear if the boy is their son. Oxygen reached out to the Anchorage Police Department to clarify and is waiting for a response.
Other family members now have custody of the boy, who wasn’t injured during the slayings.
Detectives say that three men who knew Christopher Brooks planned the home intrusion, and had gone to his home with the intention of robbing the family. During the robbery, one of the men, Lamarkus Jayquann Mann, 22, took out a gun and shot Danielle, police said. In the struggle that ensued, Christopher was shot as well.
Mann is still at large. His accomplices, Jaylyn Franklin and De Anthony Malik Harris, were charged with two counts of second-degree murder and burglary-related charges. Harris was shot in the leg during the scuffle and is recovering at a hospital.
