A Texas man was killed by police after he allegedly stabbed his wife to death—and after his 11-year-old son called 911 to report the crime and was found by cops, in terror, covered in his mother’s blood.
Police responded to the emergency call from the boy in eight minutes, finding Medger Blake, 41, wielding a knife in his master bedroom as his frightened son sat on the front porch, People magazine reported.
Blake was ordered to drop his knife, but he allegedly refused, instead charging at one of the cops. He was shot and killed at the scene.
The boy told cops he had begged his father to stop stabbing his mother, Rose Blake, 38, before running away to hide in the bathroom and call 911. He wasn’t injured in the homicide.
Police said they found an eight-page note in the house, signed by Blake, telling his children what to do with the property in the house and apologizing for the death. Blake did not have a criminal record or a known history of domestic violence before the stabbing, and neighbors and friends said that the Blakes seemed like a normal family.
“I would see him out in his driveway all the time shooting baskets with his boy," said neighbor Steve Toth to local station KHOU.
The boy is currently living with family members.
