What was reported as a self-inflicted shooting may have been murder. Ronald Lee McMullen, 43, of Oklahoma claimed that his daughter, Kailee, shot herself. After investigating, authorities are suspicious and have arrested McMullen for murder.
According to KWTV, McMullen called 911 on June 29 at 5:42 a.m. and claimed that his daugther shot herself in the face. The 22-year-old died at the scene.
“When you listen to the 911 call, the father states that she shot herself. The evidence that was collected from the scene and as we’ve worked through the initial investigation, that’s when the death became suspicious. We didn’t feel like the things that we were able to gain from the scene connected the story that was told,” Norman Police Department’s Sarah Jensen said.
In an affidavit for a search warrant, filed July 6, police officers on the scene said that McMullen acted erratically. He wiped areas with blood “and officers subsequently had to physically restrain him from doing so several times" and covered himself in dirt.
Authorities have not released a motive in the death. However, in an affidavit obtained by People, McMullen was accused of molestation by his daughter when she was 14.
