The Holiday season can fill people with Yuletide cheer or send them into a spiral of anger and depression over everything that’s missing from their life. A Connellsville, Pennsylvania woman must have been feeling the latter, as she drove to her married ex-boyfriend’s house and smashed up his property with her car, trying to run him over at one point. Mary Jo Smith, 47, is being held on $30,000 bail for the incident.
Alan McCutcheon, 64, said he was decorating his house with Christmas decorations with his wife and daughter, when Smith showed up, blasting Christmas music out of her car. She was drunk and screamed “Merry Christmas” before tearing up his yard, destroying his decorations, plowing into other cars on the property, and driving into a swimming pool in his backyard. When McCutcheon approached her, she tried to run him over, as well as his wife and daughter.
Somehow, one of the other people there was able to get Smith out of her jeep and subdue her before police arrived and took her into custody. According to McCutcheon, he had not been in contact for Smith for over 5 years. Smith is now facing a number of felonies including aggravated assault.
