The Catelan police have confirmed a massive van crash that occured in the popular tourist area of Las Ramblas, Barcelona.
Few details have emerged from the situation, Associated Press reports police are treating the accident as a terror attack.
Both police and the AP have confirmed multiple fatalities in the crash.
Spanish emergency services are advising citizens to be in touch with family members who may have been in the area. The US Consulate has similarly advised tourists abroad to be in touch with family.
Videos being shared on social media show the chaos that erupted following the crash.
According to CNN, Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy has tweeted the following: "In contact with all administrations. Priority: tend to the injured in Las Ramblas and facilitate the work of security forces."
The number of fatalities and injuries is not currently known, but so far, up to 13 are reported dead.
