Family members of a 20-year-old woman last seen in Lumberton, NC who went missing three weeks ago are now offering a $5,000 reward for information on her whereabouts and pleading with the public for information.
Abby Patterson went missing on September 5 and was last seen getting into a brown Buick.
Fliers posted by friends and family say Patterson left home and told her mother she’d be back in an hour. When she didn’t return, her mother called Patterson’s cell phone and it went straight to voicemail.
The Lumberton Police Department said in a press release they are seeking help from the public to find Patterson, who is 5’7" and 140 lbs, with brown hair, brown eyes and a light skin tone. Police say she was last seen wearing brown shorts and a white shirt, and noted she has a bird tattoo on her shoulder and birthmark on her right thigh.
Samantha Lovette, who identifies herself as Patterson’s mother, pleaded online asking for information on the whereabouts of Patterson.
“My baby is still missing, please if you see or hear anything that may help please call 911. The smallest thing can lead into something big. We miss our ray of sunshine. Abby is strong and I know she feels the love of her family and strength from God. Keep praying!! God will bring her back to us, I believe in that,” Lovette posted to social media on September 22.
In an early post, she wrote to Patterson, “Abby if you see this somehow, please call to let me know you're safe. I miss you so much!! The days are getting longer and time without hearing your voice cuts me like a knife. I love you with everything have in me.”
Another woman identifying herself as a member of Patterson's family, Sandy Bryan, said "multiple agencies are working together to find her," adding, "Days are getting harder but we have just as much hope as we did on day one."
Patterson was living in Jacksonville, FL before she went missing in Lumberton. Three other women in their 20s and 30s have gone missing and were found killed in Lumberton this year, but WMBF news reports police say Patterson’s disappearance is not connected. Patterson went missing in the area the three bodies were found. Christina Bennett, 32, Rhonda Jones, 36, and Megan Oxendine, 28, were all found dead in Lumberton, and their cases have since gone nearly cold, according to WPDE.
Oxygen reached out to the Lumberton Police Department for more information but did not receive a response at the time of publication.
