The family of a Tennessee teen boy has filed a lawsuit against Roane County Schools and the contractor who employed a female janitor accused of raping their son. The victim, age 16, has since dropped out of school.
According to CBS News, Jessica E. Galyon, 29, was arrested in February for assault. The alleged rape took place in a room at school during school hours. Afterwards, the suit claims that Galyon told the teen not to tell anyone as it would cause her to lose her job, her husband and her children. Galyon allegedly insisted on the boy giving her his phone number and becoming Facebook friends.
Authorities said the high school officials received reports of Galyon sending sexual Facebook messages to a student back in October. The lawsuit claims Galyon sent "flirtatious and sexual messages" to the boy that were “unsolicited, unwanted, and unwelcome."
The lawsuit also claims that Galyon's harassment was known throughout the school. The Knoxville News-Sentinel reports that the student's family is seeking $4.5 million in damages from the school district for negligence.
