Female Sportswriters Force Men To Read The Misogynistic Tweets They Receive

“I have to read all of them, right?” asks one. “I hope you get raped again.”

Sarah Spain and Julie DiCaro are sportswriters, and like many women in a male-dominated industry, this has led to tons of misogynistic and terrible comments about them on social media. To turn the tables, they've created a video in which men read some of these horrendous tweets aloud.

The men can barely keep it together. “This is why we don’t hire any females unless we need, uh... Unless we need our d*cks sucked or our food cooked.” “Hopefully this skank Julie DiCaro is Bill Cosby’s next victim,” another reads. “That would be classic.” These men didn't actually send the tweets, but as normal guys, they realize how vile the bullying is. “I have to read all of them, right?” asks one. “I hope you get raped again.”

DiCaro is an anchor on 670 The Score, a Chicago sports radio station, and writes for The Cauldron and other sports sites. She is a rape survivor. Spain is a columnist for espnW and appears on ESPN radio and SportsCenter. Both women have written about sexual harassment and assault.

“I would have LOVED to have tracked down the guy who ACTUALLY wrote them, so I could look them in the eye while they said that stuff,” DiCaro tells Jezebel. “But alas, most of them use fake names or exist only in egg form.” Cowards.
