The man who shot and killed football star Joe McKnight has been identified. According to TMZ, police have named 54-year-old Ronald Gasser behind the shooting of the former New York Jets player. He was detained in New Orleans and questioned about why he shot McKnight. Gasser (seen below) has not been officially arrested.
This morning, Nola announced that Glasser had been released from police custody overnight. He was not charged.
McKnight was shot Thursday afternoon at the intersection of Behrman Highway and Holmes Boulevard in Terrytown. A witness saw a man at the intersection yelling at the football player. She said he shot McKnight multiple times and said, "I told you don't you f*ck with me." Police said McKnight did not have a gun on him.
The sports world has been mourning McKnight's death. He was a forrmer USC Trojans and New York Jets running back.
