Summer Zervos, a former contestant on reality TV show The Apprentice, has previously made accusations of sexual harassment against Donald Trump. Trump has denied these allegations and fired back with claims of his own — leading to a recently-filed defamation suit from Zervos and her notorious attorney Gloria Allred.
Allred is claiming that Trump “lied, debased and denigrated" her client after accusations against Trump were made public. Trump went as far as claiming that he had never met Zervos at all.
According to The Slot, Allred accused Trump of using “his national and international bully pulpit" to subject women “to threats of violence, economic harm, and reputational damage.” She also said that Trump “knowingly, intentionally and maliciously” threw a handful of women accusing him “under the bus.”
Allred is saying that if Trump takes back his statements about Zervos and admits his sexual misconduct, the suit will be withdrawn entirely with no expectation of monetary compensation. She is demanding that he gives testimony in court, “rather than in his bedroom by tweeting in the middle of the night.”
Jezebel noted that while it is possible to civilly sue a sitting president, courts can delay the trial until after he or she is out of office.
