Former Los Angeles Lakers player and ex-New York Knicks head coach Derek Fisher was arrested Sunday on suspicion of drunken driving after his car crashed on a California highway. Also in the vehicle was Fisher's girlfriend and former "Basketball Wives" reality star Gloria Govan.
Fisher’s 2015 Cadillac overturned and came to a rest on its roof, according to the report. The crash blocked two lanes of the highway, Highway Patrol said.
Somehow neither was injured in the early morning crash, according to the Associated Press.
Officers realized Fisher had been drinking and after a DUI test, arrested him on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.
Fisher and Govan released a joint statement Sunday. According to the New York Post, in the statement the couple said they are “beyond grateful that we are both OK and no one else was involved.” The statement also thanked their supporters for thoughts and prayers.
Most recently, Fisher worked as an analyst for TNT and Spectrum SportsNet's Lakers coverage this season.
