A couple of Alabama parents are facing neglect charges after authorities say they became publicly intoxicated at a bar with their infant.
Michael Trosclair, 45, and Shari Treba, 42, face felony neglect of a dependent charges, along with misdemeanor public intoxication charge, according to WISH-TV. The couple was in town for a work conference when Treba was allegedly spotted breastfeeding her 7-month old baby while drinking alcohol. Trosclair is a former pastor, according to AL.
Police were called to the Wild Beaver Saloon in Indianapolis on a report that Treba was allegedly offering sex to customers for beer.
When police arrived, Treba couldn’t respond to questions asked by the officers, according to WISH-TV.
Police began to contact Child Protective Services and a child-abuse detective to have the baby medically examined. At that point Trosclair became angry. According to reports, he was intoxicated and belligerent and he resisted arrest repeatedly.
"Partying was more important than their child," a detective wrote in their arrest affidavit.
Treba’s blood-alcohol content to be 0.193. The infant was examined at a hospital and she had no signs of intoxication or other physical signs of abuse or neglect.
