Dan Kay, a contestant on a 2008 season of Survivor, died unexpectedly at the age of 40 on Dec. 31. The cause of death is still unknown.
The Air Force attorney and father of two young children lasted 21 days on Survivor: Gabon before being voted off the island.
“I just heard the very sad news about the sudden loss of Dan Kay of Survivor: Gabon,” Jeff Probst tweeted on Tuesday. “The Survivor family sends our love to Dan's family.”
Kay, of Brookline, New Hampshire, loved “running, skiing, listening to music, and attending Crossway Christian Church,” his obituary said.
Along with his two children, he is survived by his mother, sister, nieces, and girlfriend Jennifer DePietro.
