A grandmother in Georgia has been charged with murder after her grandson was badly mauled by two pit bulls at her home. The 21-month old boy suffered bites and tears to his head and neck. He died from the attack.
Seventy-year-old Sandra Bowers Adams has been charged with second-degree murder, second-degree cruelty to children and involuntary manslaughter according to WSPA.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) said in a news release that the toddler was attacked when Adams brought him inside her home on Tuesday. She was knocked to the ground, as the dogs went after the boy, WYFF reported. She then tried to shield her grandchild from them, but it was too late.
Adams had been cited multiple times by police for an ordinance maintaining disorderly animals. However, police hadn’t received any reports about the dogs being aggressive. Adams consented to euthanize the dogs, and both will be put down sometime this week.
