An Oklahoma homeowner’s young adult son shot and killed three teenagers that broke into his home Monday afternoon.
According to Fox 23 News, three masked teens broke into the house through its back door. The homeowner’s 23-year-old son shot the trio with an AR-15 after a brief exchange of words.
Two suspects died in the kitchen, according to ABC Tulsa. The third ran from the home but died in the driveway.
The homeowner was also home but police said he wasn’t involved in the shooting. Both residents are cooperating with law enforcement.
"Preliminary investigation, it looks like it was self-defense," police told ABC Tulsa.
Two of the dead suspects were 17 and the other was 18. According to the Fox 23 News report, they collectively carried one knife and one pair of brass knuckles.
A fourth suspect, the getaway driver, is 21-year-old Elizabeth Marie Rodriguez. She was booked on three complaints of first-degree murder and three complaints of first-degree burglary. In Oklahoma, committing a felony that results in a death can mean murder charges. According to ABC Tulsa, Rodriguez turned herself in hours after the shooting.
