A husband has been charged with the murder of his wife in Woodbury, New Jersey.
According to CBS News, authorities believe that 51-year-old Norman Long killed his wife, Michelle, in their home and dragged her body into their pool. He then drove to Applebee's and ordered takeout.
On June 17, the wife—and a dog—was found dead in the swimming pool with blunt force trauma to her head and neck. NJ.com shares Long called the police after returning from the restaurant and claimed that his wife had drowned. An autopsy ruled her death a homicide.
At a news conference, Michelle's daughter spoke out. "She did not deserve this," Brittany Maguire told reporters. "We are broken without her."
The county prosecutor added that Long is being held at a psychiatric facility after he made suicidal remarks at the crime scene. He was described as combative and requiring restraint at the scene. Following his release, he will be held at county jail.
