A man has been captured after being accused of dousing his girlfriend with gasoline and setting her on fire. As WREG shares, 43-year-old Jerry Glenn Willis of Picayune, Mississippi was the subject of a national manhunt. He was found and taken into custody from Highway 49 in Blackton, Arkansas.
Willis reportedly set his live-in girlfriend, 46-year-old Stacy Frank, on fire on Wednesday evening and left her for dead on Highway 11. She was rushed to a local hospital and later transported to the University of Mississippi Medical Center Burn Unit. Frank is currently undergoing treatment. She is reported to be in critical condition and was set to have skin graft surgery Friday.
The Sun Herald reports that Willis was wanted on charges of aggravated domestic assault and kidnapping. He is also accused of stealing Frank's 2014 Nissan Rogue, which authorities said he burned before his arrest. Those charges were then upgraded to attempted murder, kidnapping, and felony taking of a motor vehicle. Prior to his assault, authorities warned the public that Willis was "dangerous."
It is unclear what caused the incident. Both the suspect and victim apparently lived together in Picayune.
